Replaced
2014
public installation

Replaced is a public installation, located on the front facade of the first block of İMÇ (Dry-Good Dealers of İstanbul) where once a sculpture of Kuzgun Acar, Kuşlar (Birds), was located. Kuşlar is an abstract composition made out of steel and it is one of the nine artworks that were designed specifically and permanently for this building. The work was installed in 1965 and since then it has never been under maintenance. In June 2013, Cultural Awareness Foundation removed Kuşlar to repair. Replaced takes its source from the absence of Kuşlar. It is an isometric projection of the sculpture. Black curtain fabrics with different textures that gathered from the dry good dealers of İMÇ are sewn together to imitate the depth of three dimensions on the two-dimensional plane. It was hung for a day as the placeholder of Kuşlar.
