site-specific intervention

Gordon Matta-Clark considered architecture as place-making practice instead of an act of building. According to him, the first gesture of this practice -almost every time- starts by just moving something. 1/381 carries this gesture into a site-specific intervention as a part of an exhibition called “Anarchitecture”, after the term Matta-Clark coined. The only unstable one of the old tiles of an old apartment where the exhibition space is located was making a sound. The intervention was to remove and rotate it to have a deviation on the overall pattern but to keep it unstable to be able to ‘make the place’ through its sound whenever someone steps on it.
